I just updated the list of members who have signed up through the sign up form. It can be found from the membership page, the link is in the bottom. If you are not sure if you have signed up or not or if you have signed up but are not sure if you have paid or not, you can check it from the site. Only the names of the people who have signed up and agreed to have their names published will be mentioned on this site.
The members count isn’t very high yet, but I still wouldn’t wait much longer to sign up! The date is set, you know it already, what else can there be than Åcon? Right, nothing!
As you can see, we’ve been active once again. Now the hotel prices can be found from the “Hotel info” page and you can go and reserve your hotel room already, if you want to! There is also a cheaper alternative for those traveling on a budget! Even the budget alternative includes the breakfast at Hotel Adlon but the rooms are more hostel-like.
Signing up for Åcon 4 couldn’t be easier! This time around we’ve got the Member Registration form already online! Just fill in the form and you’ve signed up. The information about the travel etc. will be available later but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t sign up now! Just go to the Members page and fill in the form or you can use the link below! Do it now!
Yes, it’s official (finally). We are proud to announce that the Guest of Honour for Åcon4 is Geoff Ryman. According to his website:
Geoff Ryman is the author of several successful novels, mostly science fiction. The Unconquered Country (1984) won both the British Science Fiction Association (BSFA) Award and the World Fantasy Award.
The Child Garden (1989) won the Arthur C Clarke Award and the John W Campbell Memorial Award (First Place). An extract published in Interzone also won a BSFA Award.
I already know Åcon4 will be at least as great as the past Åcons or perhaps even greater due to a brilliant (or even f*cking brilliant) Guest of Honour!
As for other news, the travel thingies are being sorted out as I type this, the initial reservation for the ferry from Turku has been payed and the prices should get more clear before Christmas. The Åcon committee will make a trip to Imagicon 2 – Swecon 2009 and I’m sure the people there will hear about Åcon, if they haven’t heard about it yet!
Oh and if you haven’t noticed: the address http://acon4.info is up and you can use it to get to this site! Whee!
Yes, we have finally updated the website and got a new layout for it! Many thanks to Jarmo Puskala and Tero Ykspetäjä for the pictures and all the fish. There is still a lot of things missing from the site, the accommodation information (aka Hotel info) will be updated as soon as possible. The travel info will be up later this year. The guest of honor is still being discussed upon but we’re going to post information as soon as we know anything.
The most important thing now is the membership page (on the old website “Members”) on which there is a link to the membership sign up form. So feel free to sign up for the convention now!
I made a Twibe (a Twitter group, if you like) for Åcon. If you wish to join, visit http://twibes.com/acon ! The Twibe collects the tweets from people who are members and use the tag “åcon” which means the hash tags for #åcon3 have not been in vain! In the future, we will add a RSS feed from the Twibe on our website meaning you can follow the people tweeting during the con (and before and after it as well) from the website!
